Meet Irantzu Garmendia – Member of the ANALYST Advisory Board

The ANALYST Project is proud to welcome Irantzu Garmendia, Project Officer at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, as a valued member of our Advisory Board. With over 15 years of expertise in regulatory affairs, toxicology, and sustainable product development, Irantzu brings deep insights into advancing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) at the European level.

Current Roles

Irantzu serves as a Project Officer for Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) in the Technologies for Health Unit at the JRC. She plays a leading role in shaping and coordinating the JRC’s activities related to the implementation and promotion of SSbD approaches within the EU’s sustainability agenda.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Background & Expertise

Organic chemist with MDs in Toxicology and Chemical and process engineering and sustainable development. Irantzu has more than 15 years of working experience in the field of regulatory affairs and product stewardship and she is also certified as occupational safety and health advisor.  She joined the Joint Research Centre as Project Officer in the Unit Technologies for health where she leads the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) related activities. 

Role in the Advisory Board

As an Advisory Board member for the ANALYST Project, Irantzu will:

  • Provide strategic insights and direction to ensure project success

  • Align initiatives with latest scientific advancements and industry trends

  • Offer unmatched expertise to support development of innovative solutions

  • Leverage knowledge to guide project towards achieving goals

We are honoured to have Irantzu’s support as the ANALYST Project advances tools and strategies to embed SSbD into the innovation cycle across the plastics value chain.
