In January 2025, the ANALYST Project was presented at the Norwegian Society for Pharmacology and Toxicology (NSFT) Conference, held in Beitostølen, Norway. Both an abstract and a poster were showcased, highlighting how the project is shaping the future of Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) within the plastics value chain.
About the Presentation
The poster and abstract, developed by researchers from NILU and HOLOSS, focused on the integrated holistic impact assessment approach at the heart of the ANALYST project.
This approach aims to:
Develop and validate the ANALYST-BOX methodology, combining health, environmental, social, and economic assessments.
Advance the ANALYST-DIGI digital platform with ontology-driven decision-making support.
Demonstrate SSbD in practice through three PVC value chain use cases in the automotive and construction sectors.
Key Takeaways
The presentations emphasized:
The role of new approach methodologies (NAMs), such as in vitro and in silico tools, in enabling modern hazard and risk assessment.
The importance of iterative stakeholder engagement to refine methodologies.
How the ANALYST toolbox and validation program will support industry in adopting SSbD principles.
By presenting at NSFT 2025, the project connected with the toxicology and pharmacology community, broadening awareness of how SSbD concepts can be operationalised beyond materials science into regulatory and health contexts.
